Hi all,
I took out my 18-Outrage out yesterday for the first time since the restoration--Awesome!

I hit 55-MPH with a 150-HP Mercury turning a 19-inch pitch stainless prop at 5400 RPM. The boat performed like a champ. Thanks to every one who answered my newbie questions.

Now a new question: I want to mount a swim platform. Where is the wood in the transom? I can't seem to find the wood locating diagram for the 18-Outrage. Is there wood in the whole length of the tansom or just in the motor pad?

Thanks again to everyone,
SEASLED

Which OR-18 do you have, Seasled?

I have a wood locating diagram for the classic, and I believe that a check on the OEM Forum will reveal at least one more source.

You can check for Boston Whaler diagrams availble online in a listing in the Reference section.

See http://continuouswave.com/whaler/reference/drawings.html

I don't have the one you are seeking, but perhaps it can be added to the collection shortly.

The 18-Outrage wood locating diagram is now available. See the listing in the Reference section of http://continuouswave.com/whaler/reference/18Outrage/graphics/18Wood1440x881.jpeg

(Thanks, JB!)

Note that there is no wood shown in the transom except in the clearly defined thicker portion where the engine(s) are mounted.

kingfish has posted an excellent tale of how he overcame this lack of embedded reinforcements in order to mount his trim tabs. (What's that link? Help!)

You could use the same technique for a swim platform, I suppose.

jimh,

Here is a stab at finding the Kingfish reference. In addition to those listed below I think there is something dated 04/22/01, in Repairs & Mods that maybe helpful but I don't know how to go back further than two years. The first URI listed below is probably what you referred to, but I added others germane to the topic.

Hope this is of some help for everyone.
